“This fragrance features an extremely fresh opening, with an accord of peony and lilac playing a starring role, while some IsoESuper offers these flowers an otherworldly brilliance. The Cashmeran (a molecule that smells majesticly woody with a silver texture) is almost immediately perceptible, while tonka bean and musk add softness and powderiness to the drydown. A seemingly simple pyramid, reflecting the ‘seeming’ simplicity so dear to Japanese aesthetic. Washi is in fact the name of a precious fabric designed and developed through a collaboration between Italy and Japan, composed by a percentage of silk, wool, cashmere, cotton and linen, placed in a 80% rice paper. A fabric that masterfully marries tradition and technology, East and West cultures. Well, so does the scent, too. Tradition and technology resonate in the raw materials: some are so flowery and romantic that could almost be considered rétro, while others are modern and extremely trendy. The Western culture, however, is evident in the composition of the fragrance, which sits well perceivably on the skin throughout its development, while the East becomes obvious when wearing it: this scent is so clearly a Japan-inspired scent, that you can’t have any doubt! In fact, the first image arising after the spray is that of a bright and fresh scented rain, but Washi shows also “character” and longevity. Although not characterized as a scent “pour elle” (the robust Cashmeran note removes any doubt) it might be the fragrance worn by Moon in the movie “Hero” by Zang Yimou.”
